Goals
Realizing that to obtain access to sustainable quantities of suitable-quality water, the developing world faces a number of difficult technical, economic, and political challenges, the Developing Countries Interest Group seeks to:
- Encourage NGWA members to use their tools, talents, and resources to alleviate water supply or water quality problems and the related health and sanitation consequences in developing countries, whether at an individual, village, city, or national scale
- Develop professional relationships with colleagues in developing countries to enhance the technical level of all involved and foster the mutual exchange of technical expertise
- Promote holistic, sustainable ground water development, use, protection, and management in developing countries
- Advance and disseminate new and appropriate technologies
- Promote an organized effort within NGWA to coordinate and facilitate the above.
The purview of the Developing Countries Interest Group is geographically limited to those countries identified by the World Bank or similar institutions as "developing" or "low income" countries.
