Who We Are
The Nielsen Environmental Field School was established in 1990 by David M. Nielsen and Gillian L. Nielsen, environmental scientists with a total of nearly 60 years of practical field experience and 50 years of international teaching experience. Our goal is to provide working environmental professionals with the highest level of practical, hands-on environmental field training to help them advance their careers.  Our philosophy is that the best way to truly learn how to do field work is to "learn by doing" from professionals who possess field experience and teaching skills, and who focus on teaching the technology of today and tomorrow. Our training programs have earned the highest praise from the toughest critics -- your colleagues and peers. Read the testimonials of hundreds of past students to see why our courses are second to none.

"Tell me and I'll
forget. Show me
and I may not
remember. Involve
me and I'll understand."
A Native American Saying

Nielsen Environmental Field School staff frequently provide technical support services to environmental professionals in the field as well as document preparation and review services for a diverse range of clients in both the public and private sectors. Clients take advantage of our extensive field experience, expertise in development of technical SOPs, and experience acting as a technical interface between industry, consultants and regulatory agencies. We can also assist in situations that require an independent party to conduct an unbiased evaluation of project activities through a field audit, which Nielsen Environmental Field School staff are uniquely qualified to conduct.
