Race for Global Water - Water for People PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 19 August 2010

Ground Water Science is pleased to be a sponsor of the Race for Global Water 5K (run, walk, and kid's fun run) fundraiser for AWWA's Water for People charity. Water for People raises funds in North America for water development projects in the developing world. The event is September 18, 2010 in Fairfield, Ohio's Waterworks Park (where we have performed some new well construction inspection and well performance testing for the City of Hamilton - yes, the waters mingle). If you are within a reasonable drive of Fairfield (north of Cincinnati), we hope you can join us. Otherwise, we invite you to give to or volunteer with the water charity of your choice.

Information and registration at the event's web site . There is also a Facebook page.

Another new qualification for you PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 03 August 2009
After review by the Ohio EPA, our own Stuart Smith is approved as a Qualified Data Collector, chemical water quality assessment, Level 3 (top of the heap). This designation is helpful in defining our qualifications to assist with water quality monitoring planning and data collection, and putting some polish on the assessment of the work we do. We continually strive to attain and maintain certifications and qualifcations definition such as Certified Professional Geologist and Certified Ground Water Professional, and now QDC in Ohio. If we may be of assistance, let us know.

A new book in the works: Sustainable Wells PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 09 April 2009

ImageIt took awhile, but Ground Water Science's Smith and Comeskey have produced a new, comprehensive text on the maintenance and rehabilitation of wells, Sustainable Wells: Maintenance, Problem Prevention, and Rehabilitation . The work is to be published by Taylor & Francis/CRC Press (publication date November 2009).  The intent is to provide a comprehensive, readable, and well-illustrated work with up-to-date material that is largely free of product and vendor bias that can help the reader make good decisions. The work is heavy on prevention and maintenance activities.

This will be the first U.S.-based conventionally published work on the subject that covers the whole scope of well maintenance since Smith's 1995 work (available through our site from CRC Press). In addition to the content (which we think is pretty good), we also point you off to the other good literature on the subject. Although U.S.-based, it is intended to be internationally useful.

While you are buying our book, consider joining one of our courses as well. Watch for date and location announcements.
